William Cannon Drive corridor project
Mobility, safety and connectivity improvements are coming to William Cannon Drive between Southwest Parkway and McKinney Falls Parkway. The improvements are funded by the 2016 Austin Mobility Bond.
Status: Under Construction
April 9, 2026 update: The City of Austin will be performing repairs on a gas line near the intersection of William Cannon Drive and McKinney Falls Parkway starting Monday, April 13. The work is expected to last approximately 2-3 days. Please expect delays in the area and plan ahead to allow for more time to reach your destination.
March 11, 2026 update: Work is underway to install traffic signals near Hillcrest Elementary. The intersections of Janes Ranch Road and Springfield Drive will remain open throughout this installation process. The improvements are based on the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Report. The signal installations are scheduled to be complete in late spring 2026.

Scope of Project
Approximately 4,105 linear feet of corridor mobility improvements, including:
- additional travel lanes,
- intersection improvements,
- new and upgraded traffic signals and crosswalk signals (pedestrian hybrid beacons or PHBs),
- shared-use paths,
- median reconstruction,
- landscape improvements,
- mobility improvements,
- driveway reconstruction,
- street drainage improvements,
- water line relocation and more.
