Red Line Trail 60% Design Survey

The City of Austin Capital Delivery Services and Austin Transportation and Public Works Department are developing a 1.7-mile portion of the Red Line Urban Trail, to connect Braker Lane to the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. The project has reached 60% design.

The Urban Trails Program is seeking public input on the design. After reviewing the virtual open house, please take a few moments to complete this survey. Your valuable feedback will help us meet the needs and desires of our community.

Proposed crossing design at West Braker Lane

At West Braker Lane the trail will cross six lanes of traffic. The design incorporates new crossing safety features, including a painted crosswalk and a protected median to break the crossings into two stages and provide a safe space to wait half-way across the street.

A pedestrian hybrid beacon (PHB) is a signal pole that flashes to stop traffic when pedestrians are present.

At Kramer Lane the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. Currently, there is already a painted crosswalk with signage about the crosswalk. The design incorporates a new pedestrian crossing island to provide a safe space for pedestrians to wait half-way across the street.

At the private road crossing near the IBM Campus and future Uptown ATX development the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. The design incorporates a new painted crosswalk.

Proposed crossing design changes at Gracy Farm Lane

At Gracy Farms Lane the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. The design includes the repurposing of a short lane to reduce the crossing distance. Vehicles will still be able to make a U-turn after the crosswalk, which is how the lane is currently used. The design also incorporates a new painted crosswalk.
