Welcome to the FY 2025-2026 Budget Engagement!

The City is committed to an inclusive and transparent budget development process that utilizes resident and stakeholder feedback to ensure budget priorities are being met. During the months of October 2024 and November 2024, a series community meetings were hosted by the City of Austin’s Quality of Life Commissions to share community interests and concerns regarding the 2024-2025 funding year.

Additionally, Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax hosted five Communtiy Budget Conversations between February 2025 and April 2025 to share about the budget development process and gather input on budget priorities. Thank you to all who attended and shared your interests and concerns.

Have your voice heard!

The City of Austin’s Office of Budget and Organizational Excellence is seeking resident input on city services and your budget priorities to be used in the budget development process. To have your voice heard, complete the online Budget Survey below. We value your feedback and encourage you to spread the word to your friends too. Thank you for your contribution.

The City of Austin Budget Survey will be available through the early May 2025. Results from the survey will be compiled and presented to City leadership to inform budget decisions. The results will be made available to the public here in July 2025.

Joint Inclusion Committee Input Sessions

The City of Austin's Joint Inclusion Committee hosted a series of public input sessions during the months of October and November 2024 to share community interests and concerns regarding the 2024-2025 funding year. City Council Adopts FY 2025-26 Budget

On August 14, 2025, Austin City Council adopted a $6.3 billion budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Read the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Approved Budget here

Tax Rate Election

At its August 13, 2025 council budget meeting, the Austin City Council adopted the City’s budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. With approval of the budget, the Austin City Council adopted a property tax rate above the voter-approval tax rate, which requires the City of Austin to hold an election on the tax rate increase.

Austinites voted on this issue (Proposition Q on the ballot) in the November 4, 2025 City of Austin Special Election. 

*The proposition, known as Proposition Q, was not approved by voters in the November election.

Council Amends FY 2025-26 Budget

The Austin City Council has approved an amended Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget following a series of public meetings and deliberations. The full list of all Fiscal Year 2025-26 Budget amendments can be found online here
