Airport Boulevard corridor project
About the Project
The City of Austin is improving Airport Boulevard from US 183 to Lamar Boulevard to make travel along and across the corridor safer and easier for people walking, biking, driving and riding transit.
Funded by the voter-approved 2016 Austin Mobility Bond, the project includes shared-use paths, accessible crossings, traffic signal and intersection upgrades, pavement work and drainage improvements. Improvements vary by section.
Project Timeline
Construction is complete on some sections, underway on others, and planned for the remaining corridor.

- Travel lane adjustments
- Curb-protected bike lanes
- Intersection improvements at Manor Road and Wilshire Boulevard

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to MoKan Trail Bridge
Status: Under Construction
Planned Improvements
- Install 10-foot-wide continuous shared-use paths on the west side of Airport Boulevard from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Springdale Road
- Replace and consolidate driveways where bicycle and pedestrian improvements are underway
- Install or replace curb ramps for the new sidewalk and shared-use path
