Airport Boulevard corridor project
Mobility, safety and connectivity improvements are coming to Airport Boulevard from US 183 to Lamar Boulevard. The improvements are funded by the 2016 Austin Mobility Bond.

55th Street to 45th Street
Phase 1: Shared-Use Path on west side of Airport Boulevard is substantially complete. Final completion anticipated mid-January 2026.
Phase 2: The contractor will install a pedestrian signal at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Middle Fiskville Road. The schedule for this work will be shared as soon as it is finalized.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to MoKan Trail Bridge
Install 10-foot wide continuous shared-use paths on west side of Airport Boulevard from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Springdale Road. Driveway replacement and drive walk consolidation to be implemented in areas where implementing bike and pedestrian improvements. New curb ramp installation or replacement for new sidewalk/shared-use path.
Traffic Signal Improvements
Phase 1: Crosswalk signal (pedestrian hybrid beacon or PHB) at 55th Street under construction. Poles anticipated to arrive on site at 55th Street in early January 2026 with activation by late January 2026. Underground conduit repair at 51st Street/Bruning Avenue remains ongoing. Poles have been installed and Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) installation us underway.
Phase 2: Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) equipment is being installed at seven intersections between 45th Street and US-183. Work is anticipated to be complete in January 2026.
