Potential Commercial Redevelopment Opportunity - Project Summary
The Austin City Council recently approved several critical contracts related to the redevelopment and expansion of the Austin Convention Center, paving the way for the City to bring this transformative project to life! As part of this project, the Austin Convention Center is exploring reimagining a portion of the existing Convention Center property made possible by the redevelopment and expansion of the Austin Convention Center and we invite you to give your feedback on the project!
The ultimate size and specifics of this potential development will be refined as the project proceeds, but will be aligned with the Convention Center’s goals and community needs; which include, but are not limited to: supporting events at the Convention Center, aligning with City and community priorities, and generating revenue for the City. Benefits range from increased street-level activity to economic opportunities for entrepreneurs and labor, all while engaging in community-focused initiatives.
The development process involves a market analysis for the site, stakeholder engagement, and selection of a development team that is focused on collaboration with the community and alignment with Convention Center goals. Viable options for development include hotels and multifamily apartments, with the possibility of workforce housing, balanced against other community benefits.
