Dedicated organizations working in housing, health, workforce, education, and neighborhood vitality have been fighting to change that, but ideas that these issues should be solved independently has kept progress siloed. The City of Austin's 2026 Fair Housing and Economic Mobility Conference gathers policymakers, advocates, practitioners, community leaders, and business owners to unite these isolated efforts, building a shared framework for systemic change that starts in the home and extends outward into every condition shaping a resident's future.
About the 2026 Conference
Policymakers, advocates, practitioners, community leaders, and business owners are invited to join the City of Austin for a free, all-day conference with continental breakfast and lunch included. The day will include:
- Panel discussions on how housing stability, legal changes, neighborhood conditions, and systemic barriers shape economic mobility in Austin.
- Dedicated sessions on the latest Fair Housing law updates, giving practitioners and advocates practical tools to stay ahead of a changing landscape.
- An interactive workshop unveiling the City's new Levers of Economic Mobility Index, a tool that helps us understand how housing, health, work, and neighborhood conditions connect to shape a resident's future, and where we can act together to change it.
- CLE credit opportunities for eligible attendees.
- Informal networking throughout the day, connecting advocates, practitioners, and professionals working across sectors toward a more equitable Austin.
